AS A SOCIETY, THE STRAIN WE ARE PUTTING ON OUR PLANET IS UNSUSTAINABLE. RECYCLING IS NO LONGER OPTIONAL. IT IS A CRUCIAL STEP WE SHOULD ALL BE TAKING TO PROTECT OUR DETERIORATING ENVIRONMENT.

This week we’re celebrating America Recycles Day to acknowledge the importance of recycling. Recycling conserves natural resources, prevents pollution by reducing the need to collect new raw materials, saves energy, and much more.

In honor of America Recycles Day, we've put together some of the easiest and most affordable recycling programs provided by TerraCycle that you can join:

1. TERRACYCLE’S FREE RECYCLING PROGRAMS

TerraCycle offers free recycling programs funded by brands, manufacturers, and retailers worldwide to help people collect and recycle their seemingly unrecyclable waste. Businesses, government entities, and individuals work with them globally to keep trash out of landfills or from incineration. They offer free programs with recycling solutions for everyday waste items that are not accepted by standard municipal recycling systems.

To participate in Terracycle’s recycling programs, all you have to do is choose from their range of free programs, download a free shipping label and ship the products to TerraCycle to be recycled. They have programs with companies such as Febreze Air, Amika, and Swiffer, among others. You can join as many programs as you’d like to help reduce your impact on the planet.

2. ZERO WASTE BOX

TerraCycle also has a program called the Zero Waste Box. From coffee capsules to plastic cutlery to the entire contents of your bathroom, Zero Waste Boxes make it possible to recycle things that are not accepted by local curbside recycling services.

Browse their variety of Zero Waste Boxes, select the one that fits your needs, fill the box with the trash you’d like to recycle and send your box back using the attached prepaid shipping label. For example, you can buy a Zero Waste Box for recycling beauty products, they’ll send you a box, fill it up, and send it back.

3. LOOP’S PROGRAM

Loop is another excellent program managed by TerraCycle that serves as a global reuse platform enabled by a multistakeholder coalition of manufacturers, retailers, and consumers that aims to eliminate the idea of waste.

Loop operates a reverse supply chain where they collect used packaging from consumers and retailers, enabling deposit return, sorting, storing, and finally returning hygienically cleaned packaging to manufacturers for a refill.

You can shop from the wide selection of redesigned products from leading brands in zero-waste refillable packaging from the Loop aisle at selected stores or online. When you’re done consuming the products, you can bring them back and drop the empty containers off at the Loop bin. Loop will then collect, clean, and prepare the packaging to be reused. The best part is that all deposits you make are refunded via the Loop Deposit App!

RECYCLING FOR A BETTER FUTURE

The garbage in landfills releases large amounts of harmful greenhouse gases and creates water and air pollution, making landfills considerable contributors to global warming. America Recycles Day reminds and encourages us to recycle as much as possible. Even though it might be challenging to find easy ways to recycle, TerraCycle provides effective and affordable practices to recycle almost any product. If you haven’t yet, you can join one of these fantastic programs and start recycling too!
